Herawaty has developed her passion for piano at the age of seven. She then came to the United State to continue for her music studies at Santa Clara University where she studies with Prof. Hans Boepple and earned a Bachelor’s degree in music at that institute. She is a very dedicated student where she is not only excelling in the music studies but also in her other subject areas. At Santa Clara, she is awarded a music scholarship and an artistic achievement for her senior awards. Her passion for music has made her want to pursue music towards a Master’s degree. She earned her Master’s degree at San Jose State University and studied with Dr. Gwendolyn Mok. At San Jose State, she is awarded with another scholarship. Now, she is an active member of MTAC and is currently working as an evaluator for young students’ exam each year. Besides, she is also working as an accompanist at a high school and college. She has joined NCSM for 4 years and has loved to work with young kids and young adults. Her teaching philosophy is to educate them to learn music in an encouraging and fun environment where at the same time, she is helping them to appreciate what music can bring in their life!
